Kang-in Lee unlocked the game for Atlético Madrid, as he came on in the 57th minute and completely changed the momentum of the match. His teammates constantly tried to find him and put him in dangerous situations in the final third. It ultimately paid off, as Dávid Hancko played a clean diagonal ball to Kang-in Lee on the right-wing and the South Korean delivered his magic.

He cut inside, dribbled past three players and scored from outside the box to put Atlético up 1-0 after being on the pitch for just 12 minutes. A dream debut for the former PSG player, that was topped off by a spectacular free-kick goal by his new teammate Álex Baena. Kang-in Lee’s future looks very bright, as it looks like Diego Pablo Simeone will give him enough playing time to showcase his talent, something he missed during his time at PSG.

Atlético Madrid’s fans will be over the moon in comparison to last season, as in 2025 they only managed to secure two out of a possible nine points in their first three league fixtures. Atlético will also be looking to reintroduce a lot of their missing key players due to the World Cup, such as Marc Pubill, Julián Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth.

They’ll be hosting Villarreal on Sunday and if they manage to win all three points, it would be a big statement to the other title contenders in LaLiga. Especially as they lost 1-5 to Villarreal on the last Matchday of last season.
