Belgium score 12 goals in two games
Belgium were tasked with facing Liechtenstein and Kazakhstan for their respective round 5 and 6 matches. They absolutely demolished their opponents, winning both games with a scoreline of 6-0. Belgium are looking to keep up their great form and give new hope to their fans, seeing as they haven’t performed up to their standard in the last international tournaments.

Spain dominate once again
Spain showed why they’re one of the favourites to bring home the World Cup next year, as they cruised past Bulgaria in a 3-0 win and dismantled Turkey in a 6-0 win. The most surprising thing about this Spain squad, is that they don’t have one outright star player. Every player is great in their own position, and they show up individually when needed. For example, Mikel Merino, who plays as a midfielder and wouldn’t be regarded as the best player in the squad by the average fan, scored a hattrick against Turkey. This makes people compare them even more often to Spain’s 2008-2012 squad. This comparison will be put to the test in next year’s World Cup, seeing as a debate will open if they are crowned champions in the U.S.A.

Kylian Mbappé surpasses Thierry Henry
Coming into the international break, everyone knew there was a possibility that Kylian Mbappé would steal second place on France’s all-time top scorers list. The only problem was that Kylian Mbappé had to score two goals in two games to reach that feat, meaning he would have to be in his best form. As the world tuned in, Kylian Mbappé shined, scoring against Ukraine in the first round, and surpassing Henry in the second. He’s now only five goals away from Olivier Giroud, who stands alone at the top, having scored 57 goals.

Erling Haaland scores five, as Norway thrash Moldova
Erling Haaland is no stranger to scoring five goals in one game, seeing as he already put five past RB Leipzig in 2023 and Luton Town in 2024. He once again scored five in one game against Moldova in round six of Norway’s World Cup qualification. Norway earned a huge advantage in goal difference over their opponents, as they won the game 11-1. Norway are looking to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1998.
