Yesterday, Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero announced that they will part ways, as Ferrero will not be coaching him anymore coming into the 2026 season. One of the best tennis partnerships ever comes to an end, and a new era begins for Carlos Alcaraz, who doesn’t know professional tennis without Ferrero. He started coaching him when he was just a 15-year-old teenager and has now left him as 22-year-old man with six Grand Slam titles. In honour of their time together, we will be reliving Carlos Alcaraz’s best moments with Juan Carlos Ferrero as his coach.

5. Miami Open 2022

Carlos Alcaraz won his first Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open in 2022, becoming the 3rd youngest player ever to win a Masters 1000 at the age of 18 years and 334 days. He won the tournament as the 14th seed, beating Casper Ruud in the final in straight sets.

4. Madrid Open 2022

His big breakthrough and rise to stardom happened in his homeland at the Madrid Open in 2022. He went on to become the first player ever to defeat both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in the same clay court tournament. He beat Nadal in the quarters, Djokovic in the semis and Alexander Zverev in the final, defeating the top three seeded players in his last three matches. This feat really solidified him as “the next big thing” in the world of tennis.

3. US Open 2022

Carlos Alcaraz’s US Open run was one of the most epic and exciting ever. Three out of his last four matches went the distance, yet every time he was challenged, he found a way to persevere. In the final he again faced Casper Ruud and beat him in four sets to win his first Grand Slam and become World No. 1 for the first time in his career.

2. Wimbledon 2023

The Spaniards first Wimbledon title came in 2023, as he defeated Novak Djokovic in a final for the ages. The match went the distance, but Alcaraz came out on top after 4 hours and 42 minutes of tennis. This victory was truly special, especially as Novak Djokovic seemed unbeatable at the time, having won the first two Grand Slams in 2023.

1. Roland Garros 2025

The best moment of Carlos Alcaraz’s career under Juan Carlos Ferrero, was his unbelievable comeback in the 2025 Roland Garros final against Jannik Sinner. He managed to comeback from two sets down and even saved three match points in the 4th set. It’s the longest ever French Open final and second-longest Grand Slam final, having lasted 5 hours and 29 minutes. This might still be the best and most iconic moment in his career once it’s all said and done, but only time will tell.
