Julián Álvarez
On Wednesday, Julián Álvarez scored his first ever hattrick for Atlético de Madrid, in an instant classic, which saw them fall behind as late as the 77th minute. The match started off smoothly for Atlético as Julián opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a perfectly timed left-footed volley. Atlético then started to lower their intensity and allowed Rayo Vallecano to approach their box more often. This led to Rayo Vallecano’s two goals and what seemed to be an inevitable disaster for Atlético. On the other hand, Julián Álvarez had other plans and took it upon himself to win the three points. He scored the equalizer in the 80th minute and then rifled a shot with his weak foot into the top-right corner to win the game just eight minutes later. He was the undisputed best player this matchday.

Kylian Mbappé
Kylian Mbappé is the most in-form player in the world right now, having scored another two goals on Tuesday against Levante. He’s scored in all his last six games and is LaLiga’s leading top scorer with seven goals to his name.

Vinícius Júnior
Vini Jr. has left it clear to Xabi Alonso that he wants to be in the starting eleven every single game. It’s hard to argue with Vini Jr. if he keeps on delivering performances like the one on this matchday, in which he scored a spectacular goal with the outside of his boot and assisted Franco Mastantuono’s first goal for Real Madrid. The only thing Vinícius Júnior needs to work on is his ability to perform like this consistently throughout the whole season and not just for a few games in a row.

Real Sociedad
Real Sociedad secured their first win of the season, helping them escape the relegation zone, in a nail-biting game at home against Mallorca. Oyarzabal scored the only goal of the match, as he tapped the ball in after Ander Barrenetxea set him up perfectly for an open goal.

FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona came back to win the game against Real Oviedo and stay in second place of the league table, just two points behind Real Madrid, who can’t be stopped right now. FC Barcelona are waiting for Real Madrid to slip up and allow them to take first place in the table, as they’re looking to defend the league title for the first time since 2019. Their chance might come as soon as tomorrow, seeing as Real Madrid head to the Metropolitano to face their neighbours Atlético de Madrid.
