FC Barcelona
After a hard-fought first half against Valencia, in which Fermín opened the scoring, FC Barcelona exploded for five goals in the second. Raphinha, Lewandowski and Fermín all respectively ended up with a brace at the final whistle. This will boost the strikers’ confidence, most importantly Fermín’s, as there were rumours of him leaving the club throughout the summer. It’ll be a very tough loss for Valencia to get over, as they already suffered a 7-1 defeat last season against FC Barcelona.

Kylian Mbappé
Another matchday goes by, in which Kylian Mbappé scores and leads his team to victory. He’s now the sole frontrunner to become LaLiga’s top goalscorer in back-to-back seasons, as he helped Real Madrid win a tough match away against Real Sociedad, by scoring the first and assisting the second goal.

Atlético de Madrid
Atlético de Madrid secured a much-needed win on Saturday, as they took down Villareal, who were unbeaten up to this clash. Atlético caught their opponents off guard, as they executed a high press to perfection in the first half, forcing a turnover and opening the scoring in just the ninth minute of the game. Villareal caught a bit of life in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to compete against such a motivated opponent. Atlético’s only worry is their defence, as it was a miracle that they didn’t concede against Villareal, and they have to face Liverpool at Anfield tonight.

Espanyol
Espanyol got off to a strong start against Mallorca, as they went up 2-0 but just as the first half was going to end, Mallorca pulled one back from the penalty spot and Espanyol’s Pere Milla was red carded. The match went from a comfortable win to a nerve-racking dispute, as Vedat Muriqi equalized the game with a header in the 65th minute. Even though it seemed as if everything was going against them, Espanyol managed to score the winner in the 81st minute, and they now sit at third place in the league table.

Deportivo Alavés
Deportivo Alavés had to face their toughest task yet this season, as they were up against Athletic Club, who boasted a perfect record up to that point. Against all odds, Deportivo Alavés managed to pull off a remarkable upset, by beating Athletic Club 0-1 away from home.
