Athletic Club will appear in the UCL for the first time in eleven years tonight, marking a historic date for the club, as it’s only the second time they’ll have played in Europe’s most prestigious competition this century.

The last time they participated in the Champions League, they were knocked out in the group stage, finishing third but qualifying for the Europa League round of 32. They won two games, drew one and lost three games, which ultimately made them finish third in their respective group.

Their fans have high hopes for the team, but they’ve got a tough task to make it out of the League Phase. They’re going to have to face top teams like Arsenal, reigning champions PSG, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle, Atalanta and Sporting CP. Their quest starts tonight at home at San Mamés, as they host Arsenal and will have to try and get a positive result without Nico Williams, who is out due to a muscle injury in his left adductor.
