
5. Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid & France)
After not having a great start to his first season at Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé turned his season around and won the European golden boot. Kylian Mbappé delivered some iconic performances, scoring hat tricks against Man City and FC Barcelona. He scored 46 goals for club and country and would probably be ranked higher if it wasn’t for the lack of team success Real Madrid have had.

4. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool & Egypt)
Mohamed Salah started the season off as the top contender for the player of the year award, but after being eliminated from the Champions League in the round of sixteen by eventual champions PSG, Salah’s form drastically dropped during the most deciding period of the season and Liverpool lost the Carabao Cup final the very next game. The Egyptian only managed to score 3 goals in his last 12 games of the season. Nevertheless, Salah had an incredible season, scoring 34 goals, providing 23 assists and winning the Premier League title for Liverpool.

3. Lamine Yamal (FC Barcelona & Spain)
At just 18 years of age, Lamine Yamal makes the top three, having exceeded the hype and established that he wants to dominate the next decade of football. Lamine Yamal has solidified himself as a generational talent, delivering world-class performances on the biggest of stages. He scored 21 goals, provided 22 assists for club and country and won a domestic double for FC Barcelona.

2. Raphinha (FC Barcelona & Brazil)
A historic season for the Brazilian, Raphinha scored 38 goals and provided 23 assists for club and country, winning a domestic double, while being one of the most decisive figures for FC Barcelona. He was the joint-top goalscorer of the Champions League with 13 goals and provided the most assists (8). Raphinha could have easily won the Player of the Year if it wasn’t for PSG’s European dominance and undisputed success.

1. Ousmane Dembélé (PSG & France)
Ousmane Dembélé is the Home of The World’s Sports Player of the Year for 2025. He was the decisive figure in PSG’s treble-winning campaign, scoring 35 goals and providing 15 assists across all competitions. Having stacked up a goal contribution in every Champions League game from the quarterfinals onwards, Ousmane Dembélé showed up when his team needed him the most. He was the best player throughout the whole of the 2024/25 season and is deserving of the Player of the Year award.
